I was just reading this summarized in the HOWTO, and I realized I
never responded to this.  It's not fixed in 2.6; I still need the
iptables rule to set the mss (iptables -A OUTPUT -s VIRTUAL-IP -p tcp
-m tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST,ACK SYN,ACK -j TCPMSS --set-mss 1440).
