did you put the extra one on or did (presably misconfigured) 
script(s) do it?

You can have multiple gateways, but (AFAIK) they have to be 
added by the ip route append command. The default is that 
they have equal weight and I presume new routes are sent out 
each gateway alternately.

the internal network should only have routes to that 
network.
